Meet Heather and Alan O’Brien, (in Skirts), we are a husband and wife team and the founders of MyPropFolio. Being a husband and wife team we have some exciting times and some hairy times as you can see from Alan's legs..

We are both engineers and in 2005 we found our true passion, Real Estate Investing. It is exciting and lucrative but most of all when you buy an under performing property, turn it around, the feeling is amazing.

In 2006 we started an investment company in Indiana and were buying, fixing & selling 15 properties a month. It was such a nightmare to manage this business, so the original MyPropFolio was born. (If you ask nicely I will show you screen shots :-)). After talking to many other investors with similar problems, we went back to the drawing board to redevelop the application. We had the goal to provide Real Estate investors the tools to achieve success in Real Estate. Now MyPropFolio 2.0is released to the public.

Our Background

Heather O’Brien is originally from the Silicon Valley and received her degree in Economics from UC Davis. Heather worked for PeopleSoft (acquired by Oracle) and played a key role in technical management solutions for leading banks and Fortune 500 companies worldwide. In 2003 Heather formed her own consulting company which has secured important contracts at leading banks.

Heather loves to travel and has visited nearly 50 countries in the young (but older than Alan) 31 years! She loves to fly, rock climb, snowboard and hang out with her son Darragh and the rest of her family.

Alan O'Brien was born and raised in Cork, Ireland. After graduating from University of Limerick with a degree in Electronic Engineering, Alan worked for Fortune 500 Telecom companies in nearly 30 different countries. He implemented numerous systems(both technical and process driven) to create a better bottom line for telecom companies.

Alan, like a good Irish lad, loves to go for a pint with his friends & family. Alan loves to spend time with his amazing family especially Heather and their son Darragh. Alan gets to go home to Ireland between 4-5 times a year and Real Estate Investing has made this possible. When Alan is not traveling, working or spending time with his family, you can find him at his other passion, playing basketball.

How It All Started

In 2005, Heather and Alan were both continuing to achieve success in their relative areas of expertise. There was a problem however. Alan’s work related travel was interfering with their personal life. They wanted careers that would give them more flexibility. After observing that people with high net worth were often involved in real estate, they decided it would be a great way to provide for their future. They took the plunge and Alan quit his high paying consulting position to invest in real estate full time. Since they didn’t have much experience in real estate, Heather and Alan began attending REI club meetings.

In 2006 they started a company and within six months they were acquiring 15 properties a month because they designed a system to help them manage all the details. Heather and Alan built a successful team that worked within their designed system. In December 2006, they were able to sell this company for a substantial profit. Since 2005, they have bought and sold over 200 properties across California, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, Louisiana and Indiana.

They Saw a Need for Technology

As much as they enjoyed their business success, Heather and Alan were very frustrated with the lack of technology solutions for managing the end to end process of flipping properties. They began researching software options that could solve this problem and discovered that there weren’t any! Instead of giving up, they were inspired to utilize their background in technology and create their own solution. After talking with other Real Estate investors, they realized that there were many who were looking for tools to help them better manage their business.

Over a year of analysis and development went into assembling the design, technical and marketing teams and into the creation of this fantastic product. Heather and Alan are proud of this easy to use system designed BY REAL ESTATE INVESTORS FOR REAL ESTATE INVESTORS.
